Our Pastor's Ordination

The Ordination and Induction of our current Pastor took place on 12th January 2008. The service and occasion was a very blessed time. The following men were involved in the Ordination and Induction service:
Rev. Hywel Roberts (Retring Pastor of PBC and Chair); Rev. Jonathan Stobbs (Pastor of PBC); Rev. Peter Day (Reitred Pastor of Grace Baptist Church, Southport. He gave the Charger to the Minister); Pastor Gerard Hemmings (Pastor of Amyand Park Chapel, Twickenham). The Order of Service can be downloaded using the link button opposite.

It was a special occasion as Rev. Hywel Roberts who had been the faithful minister of Penzance Baptist Church for 35 years chaired the meeting as he handed the leadership of the church to his successor. In his account of his call to the ministry, Rev. Jonathan Stobbs spoke of the great privilege he had been given to take up the legacy that had been left to him by his predecessor, Rev. Hywel Roberts. Jonathan spoke of his gratitude to Rev. Roberts for his help in discerning the Lord's will in his life, and the major encouragement and mentor he had been in recent years.

Rev. Peter Day gave the charge to the incoming minister and this was a lovely situation as Rev. Jonathan Stobbs was converted by God's grace under the ministry of Rev. Peter Day in Grace Baptist Church, Southport a number of years ago. Jonathan had spoken in his account of his call to the ministry of the lasting influence that Rev. Peter Day had had on his life.

Pastor Gerard Hemmings gave the charge to the church and again, this was a lovely situation as Pastor Hemmings had been a real help to our current minister during his time at Royal Holloway, University of London. Our Pastor had previously been a member at Amyand Park Chapel.

A cake had been beautifully made by one of the members of PBC for the occasion of the Ordination. It was suggested that Pastor Stobbs and his wife cut the cake. It was like a second wedding! The whole provision of refreshments and food for the reception revealed much of the warmth and generosity of the people in the Baptist Church. It was an overwhelming sight to see so many from locally and around the country attend the ordination and induction service of the new Pastor. The Lord provided a special day, and may His hand continue to rest on the fellowship at PBC as they ever look to Him, and seek to honour Him in the life and witness of the church.
